2. Not the same as the DMV Written Test

The California course curriculum for Driver’s Ed is actually different from the DMV Written Test. Don’t worry, we have course material to help you with both.

3. Updated Content

4. Written Test Prep

The best way to prepare for the written test is to study the DMV handbook and to study 200+ practice questions.

The Steps needed for Teens to Complete their Driver’s License

Step 1: Driver’s Ed

As early as 15 years old, we recommend students take Driver’s Ed. Courses include online, hybrid, or in-person.

Step 2: Written DMV Test

As early as 15.5 year’s old, students can take the written test at the DMV. Walk-ins are accepted. We offer 200 free practice questions with explanations for you to practice before taking the written test.

Step 3: Behind-The-Wheel

Teens ages 15.5 to 18 years old must complete 6 hours of in vehicle practice with a certified DMV driving school. They also must practice for 50 hours with a licensed driver over the age of 25 before they can take the Behind-the-Wheel test. The DMV licensed schools will carry insurance, but the parents will need their own insurance for their teens when they are not driving with a DMV licensed school.

FAQ

The top California DMV approve Driver’s Ed Schools

1. Aceables.com and Driversed.com

Relevant and Modern Driving Information
Easy To Use
Cost
Content will help you pass the DMV Written Test

Recommended

Aceables and Driversed.com are the same site, just rebranded differently. The sites are simple and not too bloated. The cost is $30 which falls in the middle price range of Driver’s Ed schools, which range from $10-$50. Test takers will get through the 30 hour course without any technical issues. We marked it down to 4 stars for ease of use because there is too much buttonology to navigate through a course. There’s a lot of clicking to arrive at each section or paragraph. Users would prefer to scroll more and click less. The course content covers about 40% of what is actually on the DMV Written test, so test takers should be ready to carefully read the DMV Handbook after completing this course.

Summary

California Driver’s Education is a bit of a generic site and the material was very dry and slow to read. Students have mentioned that they race through the links on the 30 hour course in an attempt to just print out the certificate. Which works, if you just want to pass. The cost is $24.95 which falls in the middle price range of Driver’s Ed schools, which range from $10-$50. There is too much advertising and affiliate marketing.
